This blog post includes 11 free and fun St. Patrick's Day themed printable activities for kids. I hope these ideas help keep your little one learning and playing all season long!

I love creating simple and engaging learning activities for each holiday- and St. Patrick's Day is no exception. From an I-Spy to cutting strips, an alphabet match, and more, there's something for everyone. So if you have a child in preschool or early elementary school, take a look at these exciting activity ideas to try at home.

Activity 1: Cardstock Rainbow

Supplies Needed:

  • Printable (free download below)
  • White beans (dry and uncooked)
  • Ziploc plastic bags
  • Acrylic paint  in the colors of the rainbow
  • Glue

Directions:

Color beans in the colors of the rainbow by placing dry white beans in a bag with a few squirts of acrylic paint. Seal the bag and shake until the beans turn color. Open the bag and let them air dry (I like to do this overnight). Let your child glue colored beans on the cardstock rainbow printable on the corresponding rainbow bands.

Activity 2: Dot Sticker Shamrock

Supplies Needed:

Directions:

Use dot stickers to decorate the shamrock. To make it more challenging, write letters or numbers in each circle on the printable. Write the same letters or numbers on the dot stickers. Let your child match the dot stickers to the circles with the same letters or numbers written on them.

Activity 3: Cutting Strips

Supplies Needed:

  • Printable (free download below)
  • Scissors

Directions:

Cut out the cutting strips. These work best when printed on cardstock. Let your child cut along the dotted lines. The third pot of gold without dotted lines is for you (or your child to create).

Activity 4: Feed the Leprechaun

Supplies Needed:

Directions:

Tape the printable on an empty cereal box or similar box. Cut out the mouth of the leprechaun, going through the paper and the box. Give your child a spoon and something to "feed the leprechaun". Let them use the spoon to scoop and drop items into the mouth of the leprechaun. This is great for fine motor skills, concentration, early math skills, and more!

Activity 5: Roll and Color Rainbow

Supplies Needed:

Directions:

Give your child markers or crayons. Have your child roll a die, then color that rainbow band on the printable. Continue rolling and coloring. If your child rolls a color that's already been colored, roll again. This is great for early math skills like subitizing and number sense.

Activity 6: 10 Coins and 10 Frame

Supplies Needed:

  • Printables (free download below)
  • Scissors

Directions:

Cut out the 10 coins from the printable. Call out a number 1-10 and have your child place that many coins on the 10 frame. Ask questions like, "How many more coins do you need to make 10?"

This activity is so great to help build number sense. You can also hide the coins around the house and let your child find them and place onto the 10 frame.

Activity 7: Sticker Rainbow

Supplies Needed:

  • Printable (free download below)
  • An assortment of stickers in the colors of rainbow (you can use just colored dot stickers too)

Directions:

Give your child stickers in the colors of the rainbow. Let them place red stickers on the red rainbow band on the printable, orange stickers on the orange, and so on.

Activity 8: Missing Colors Rainbow

Supplies Needed:

  • Printable (free download below)
  • Crayons or markers in the colors of the rainbow

Directions:

Give your child markers or crayons in the colors of the rainbow. Let them look and study each rainbow on the printable and figure out which color in the rainbow is missing. Color in the missing rainbow band for each rainbow.

This activity is such a great STEAM activity. It promotes critical thinking and problem-solving and kids love it.

Activity 9: I am Lucky Because...

Supplies Needed:

  • Something to write with

Directions:

Let your child practice gratitude and fill out the printable writing or drawing something they feel lucky for. Decorate the page and hang up to admire all month long!

Activity 10: Alphabet Match

Supplies Needed:

  • Printables (free download below)
  • Scissors
  • Marker

Directions:

Cut out the coins. Write the letters A-Z on the coins (one letter per coin). You can write lowercase or uppercase. Hide them around the house. Place the printable with all the letters on a table. Let your child go search for the gold coins. When they find a coin, have them call out the letter and place it on the same letter on the printable. Continue until all coins have been found.

This is such a fun activity that works on motor skills, early literacy (letter recognition), and more! Turning it into a scavenger hunt makes it extremely engaging and a high-interest activity that your child will LOVE!

Activity 11: I-Spy

Supplies Needed:

  • Printable (free download below)
  • Something to write with

Directions:

Find the items that are in the key and color them in.
